About JB Prosthodontics

What we do

We see and treat people with complicated dental problems involving badly damaged teeth and jaw problems. We restore the aesthetics or appearance of teeth as well as the functional ability including speaking, eating and the comfort of the bite.

Most people who see us are referred by their dentist due to the complexity of their problems however you do not need a referral to see us.

How long we’ve been in business

Dr Boulton commenced his Prosthodontic practice in 1997 this year being our 20th year in practice. He started in association with Dr Peter Vincent and Dr Rob McNab. We also visit the Sunshine Coast. He has always maintained a role teaching undergraduates and postgraduates at the University of Queensland Dental School.

Dr Boulton has been a Prosthodontist since completing a Masters Degree in Prosthodontics in 1992. He then worked as a lecturer in Prosthodontics at the University of Queensland for one year and then at Guys Hospital, London, for four years. He then returned to Brisbane to start his Practice in 1997.

We go to great lengths to make sure each treatment is suited to each person. We explain treatments carefully in a way that people can understand what is being suggested along with the possible complications. We have a large collection of previous cases which are used to demonstrate treatments. We try to maintain a relaxed and informal environment.

What is a prosthodontist?

A PROSTHODONTIST is a dental specialist, trained to restore and replace teeth at a specialist level. A Prosthodontist is an expert in the restoration of teeth with various materials including aesthetic ceramic, restoration with dental implants, as well as bridges and dentures. A Prosthodontist is also trained to treat jaw joint disorders (TMJ). They are dedicated to the highest standards of care in the restoration and replacement of teeth.

They have undertaken 3 additional years of Postgraduate University and Hospital based training after completing an Undergraduate Dental Degree. Prosthodontists often lead teams of dental specialists in complex dental rehabilitations.
